This Yoga Teacher Training program is for yoga practitioners who have a love for yoga born out of practice. We help these practitioners develop the skills needed to share yoga with students as professional teachers.

You must meet the following requirements to take our program:

  • At least two years of yoga practice (at least six months of classes with a certified instructor.)

  •  The ability to demonstrate an experiential understanding of yoga practice and its benefits.

  •      The training is taught in nine intensive weekends, and class size is limited to 20 students. This format supports students having time to integrate the material, complete homework, and prepare for assigned practice teach sessions. A cap of 20 students is conducive to an  interactive student/teacher relationship.

In the first half of the program students will learn an effective methodology for teaching postures and pranayamas (breathing exercises). They will learn 25 postures and five pranayamas that are appropriate for beginning level students. In the second half of the program they will learn to design and lead three kinds of classes: a vinyasa workout class, a meditative posture class, and a gentle stretch class. Our graduating teachers are prepared to teach in a variety of settings.

All sessions of each weekend must be attended and full participation in each session is required. Session times are: Fridays, 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm; Saturdays, 8:30 am - 6:30 pm; Sundays, 8:30 am - 6:30 pm.

         Classes are scheduled on the following dates (10 weekends are scheduled, 9 will be used): August 8-10, 2008, September 5-7, 2008, October 3-5, 2008, October 24-26, 2008, November 14-16, 2008, December 5-7, 2008, January 16-18, 2009, February 20-22, 2009, March 6-8, 2009, March 13-15, 2009

Tuition for this program is $3,200; credit cards will not be accepted for this program. Students must purchase the book Anatomy of Movement by Blandine Calais-Germain. During the training each participant is required to take 15 classes from a variety of certified teachers and fill out an observation form after each class (the cost of these classes is in addition to the tuition).

Pranakriya Basic 200-hour YTT is registered with the Yoga Alliance and meets or exceeds all its requirements for 200-hour teacher training programs.

Yoga Teacher Mentoring is a process whereby a specially trained teacher observes another teacher’s classes in order to facilitate that teacher’s own evaluation of their work and continuing professional growth.
Dean Hudson is a professional Kripalu Yoga teacher and certified Kripalu Yoga teacher mentor. He loves working through the mentoring process to help other yoga teachers build confidence and enrich their skills.  For more information on the mentoring process, call Dean at 413-536-7779.
