What would it be like to be fully alive, awake, and whole? To live a life of vitality, expressiveness, and passion while remaining peaceful and equanimous under all circumstances? The ancient yogis sought just that by tapping prana, the vital life energy of the universe, to kindle a fire in the belly that could be channeled into a deep and abiding peace in the heart.

Discover the secrets of their path. Cultivate an integrated practice to facilitate energetic attunement, raise the store of prana in the body, and channel that energy into transcendent states. In this  weekend intensive , you will:

  • Practice and refinement of advanced pranayama techniques
  • Integrate pranayama with breath retention (kumbhaka) and the locks (bandhas) in asana practice
  • Enhance your attunement to prana and the subtle body
  • Channel its flow to deepen and intensify your meditation practice

Take your practice to the next level with an intense synthesis of asana, pranayama, meditation, and dance - opening yourself to transformation, joy, peace, and wonder.

Yoga in the West is often identified with the physical practice of asana alone.  Yet classically, asana was only one way of cultivating awareness of and working with prana, the vital life force energy of the body and the universe. This weekend of workshops is intended to bring prana back to the forefront of our practice to cultivate a powerful, energy-based, and deeply meditative yoga.

For the ancient yogis, prana was the tangible manifestation of the higher Self and the key to expanding awareness. Asanas were used to free prana and open the energy channels. Pranayama was used to purify the nadis (energy channels), raise the store of pranic energy in the body, and redirect its flow. And controlling the flow of prana in the body was understood as central to controlling the fluctuations of the mind and opening the door to transcendent states.

This series of workshops intended to put that theory into practice. We will refine advanced pranayama skills and integrate them into our practice of postures.  We will raise the store of pranic energy to a clearly perceptible level and use that prana as both a meditative object and an inner guide to the unfolding of our yoga.

Workshop schedule:

Saturday, May 3
9:00 am – noon           The Power of Advanced Pranayama
2:00-5:00 pm               Mindfulness in Motion: Uniting Asana and Meditation
