Refuge from the Storm

Open the door to meditation and discover a place of solace, healing, and rest in today’s fast-paced and stressful world. Cultivate an inner sense of well-being that endures beyond the changing circumstances of your life. Open your heart to greater love and compassion and discover your capacity for deep healing.

This intensive will explore a range of meditation techniques and their potential to calm the mind, relax the body, open the heart, cope with difficult emotions, alleviate suffering, and lead you home to your true nature. Guided meditations interspersed with periods of silence will alternate with lecture, movement, discussion, and sharing. You may meditate seated either in a chair or on the floor.

The retreat will also include the Dances of Universal Peace, powerful, joyous, and meditative circle dances. Accompanied by live guitar, participants join voices and dance in celebration of the universal themes of peace, love, and unity that underlie all great spiritual paths. Whether you are new to meditation or have an established practice, this retreat can help you find refuge from the storm.

The Dances of Universal Peace are powerful, joyous, and meditative circle dances inspired by Sufi Master Samuel Lewis. Envisioned as a bridge to interfaith and intercultural understanding, the Dances celebrate the universal themes of peace, love, and unity that underlie all great spiritual paths. Accompanied by live guitar, participants join voices and dance in celebration of the richness of our diversity and the depth of our interconnectedness. The words, melody, and movements for each dance are taught. No experience necessary. Come alone or with a friend.

All That Matters

Anyone who has ever tried to meditate knows how hard it can be to quiet the mind. The ancient yogis recognized this challenge and, rather than wrestle with the mind directly, found a secret doorway for cultivating a deep meditative focus and accessing transcendental states – it is the breath. Pranayama, the yogic science of breathing, provides an accessible way to calm and focus the mind. In this workshop, learn a number of pranayama techniques and explore their relationship with meditation.

All That Matters

Two of the hallmarks of Kripalu Yoga are its energetic and meditative dimensions.  Explore the integration of asana, pranayama, and meditation into a powerful synthesis that facilitates energetic attunement, raises the store of pranic energy in the body, and channels that energy to deepen the meditative experience. The central focus is incorporating mindfulness meditation into our asana practice with particular attention to prana.
